Community Involvement :: College Awareness Program
PCHS 9th Graders Encouraged to Visualize Their Future March 22, 2010 ~ Clark Gas & Oil & the Patrick County Educational Foundation sponsored a college awareness assembly at Patrick County High School. This annual assembly for PC 9th graders is to excite & focus them on their future!
This PCHS College Day assembly is the first segment of a two-part annual program to encourage ninth-graders to start planning for post-secondary education. In addition to the assembly, ninth graders take part each spring in a campus tour of one of the region's colleges and universities.
According to Blair Clark, President of Clark Gas & Oil, the campus tours place students in the campus environment, bringing life to the idea of going to college. The sooner we can get students thinking about college, the more likely they are to go and the more Patrick students we send to college, the brighter our community's future will be. Each year since 1998, Clark Gas & Oil has donated $1,000 to Patrick County High School to underwrite the cost of these College Day campus trips.
Clark Gas & Oil has been involved with this program since 1998 ~ donating over $13,000 & hopefully inspire our community's youth to continue their education! The Patrick County Education Foundation joined as co-sponsors in 2002.
