Safety BEFORE lighting you Pilot Light

How To Light Your Pilot

 1.

 

 

Stop! Read the safety information.Make sure the equipment valve is fully open. Turn the control knob clockwise to the off position. 

Wait five (5) minutes to clear out any gas. Then smell for gas, including near the floor. If you smell gas, STOP! and follow section "B" in the safety information listed in the above section. If you don't smell gas, go to the next step.Turn the control knob counter-clockwise to the pilot position. Press in the control knob for five (5) seconds.

 

With the control knob pressed in, press and release ignitor button This will light pilot. The pilot is attached to the front burner. If needed, keep pressing ignitor button until pilot lights.

Keep the control knob pressed in for 30 seconds after lighting pilot. After 30 seconds release the control know. If the control knob does not pop out when released, contact a qualified Clark Gas & Oil technician for repairs.

 2.

Turn control knob counter-clockwise to desired heating level. The front burner should light. Set control knob to any heat level between HI(high) and LO(low).


CAUTION:
Do not try to adjust heating levels by using the equipment shutoff valve.

 

NOTE: Homeowners generally prefer to operate their heater with the chimney damper closed. This will put all the heat into the room. However, there may be times you desire the full flames of the HI setting but will find the heat output excessive. You can open the chimney damper (if you have one) either fully or partially to release some of the heat.

 Shutting Appliance(s) Down


Shutting Off Heater:
Turn the control knob clockwise to the OFF position.
  

 


Shutting Off Burners Only
(Pilot Stays Lit):   

Turn the control knob clockwise to the PILOT position.
